Workplace health and wellness is a big deal, and as a result, there have been many arguments/debates surrounding that subject. Some employers will tell you that they’re doing everything possible to put their employee’s in a position to be happy – but is that really the case? There are wellness programs put in place, but some employees will tell you that they are completely useless; not only that, but they can be a sneaky way to force more fees and costs onto employees as well.
Regardless of the negative feedback being given to companies from employees, corporate big shots continue to keep their grips strong. They fund these programs to the point of $8 billion every single year, but the programs are some of the most lackluster investments you could make. Around 25% of the employees even make an attempt to actually understand their programs, as well as comprehend the rewards.
Workplace wellness programs were seemingly adopted out of nowhere, and the lackluster results that they are consistently pumping out should be a sign of what change needs to come. Is the workplace even the right location to be implementing wellness programs? If it is, would there be a better approach to the entire process? The leaders of corporations and businesses all over the world need to take some responsibility and lead as they are intended to. The workplace would be one of the best platforms to promote a wellness program, but why is that exactly?
Wellness Programs Done Right
There are well over 100 million Americans working full-time at this very moment, and that means a number of things. Not only does it mean that they need to be accounted for at all times, but it means that all of them (well, at least a majority of them) will find some use in the right wellness programs. When you look at the fact that 86% of all healthcare spending within the United States is dedicated to people with chronic ailments, it’s obvious that corporations need to do whatever they can to ensure the health/wellness of their employees.
It speaks volumes to the employee’s themselves, and will even help improve the price of insurance premiums. Workplace wellness plays a much bigger role than most of us would like to think. It can promote lower health care costs, which keeps everybody happy.
