Issa Rae is an actress, producer, and writer who started gaining attention from her work in her Youtube web series, Awkward Black Girl. To maintain the initial popularity of her youtube channel, she features various short films and other content created by people of color. Along with her acting career, the stunning and talented Issa has also made headlines for losing weight.
After gaining some weight, actress and YouTuber Issa revealed in the April issue of Women’s Health magazine that she learned to make time for workouts. She said that she was very broke when the web series started but ended up gaining what is called “New Money Weight.”
When Issa began to receive more opportunities, her New Money Weight increased. “When you get to a new job, you will be like, ‘I can afford to eat at restaurants all the time!’ which adds additional pounds to your weight,” she explained.
When she saw herself on TV, she realized that her career and weight were both expanding. When she saw herself in that condition, her self-esteem took a hit! This incident motivated Issa to slim down and make time for taking care of herself.
Issa was guilty of using excuses to avoid exercise and healthy eating. Working out and living a healthy lifestyle is not something that comes naturally to everyone. For Issa, she had been through the same struggles but seeing herself on TV messed up her self-esteem. When she was filming Insecure, this actress found time to work out by making an exercise routine.
She began waking up early in the morning at 4:55 AM. She would rather run through her neighborhood for an hour than join any gym. Walking and jogging were two of the many ways that Issa found to stay fit. After being a vegetarian for more than 15 years, she has now started living a paleolithic lifestyle, according to her interview.
Issa revealed that in order to lose weight, she was following the Paleo-Leaning diet. This dietary plan is based on foods that might have been eaten during the Paleolithic era, which dates back about 2.5 million years ago to 10 years ago. Issa decided to go with the Paleo-Leaning diet because it was a way for him and his body’s natural systems, which had been mismatched by modern eating habits. She eliminated Grains, Legumes, Dairy products, Refined sugar, Salt, Highly processed foods, and potatoes.
