Everybody has a love affair with their smartphone. After all, it’s the one gadget that allows them to make phone, text friends, buy friends, chat online with friends and surf the Internet for hours on end.
However, did you know that your smartphone can actually do more harm than good to your health?
It’s known as cell radiation, and it’s from the blue light on your phone.
The blue is a part of the full light spectrum, and the human body is exposed to it daily by the sun. Nighttime exposure to this kind of light – seen on smartphones, laptops, tablets and other LED screens – can lead to vision damage. It can hinder melatonin production, throwing the natural sleep cues the body is supposed to give.
Scientists have found that smartphones can be a cause of certain diseases:
Cancer
Since the blue light alters your sleep schedule, it raises the chance of developing certain kinds of cancer such as prostate and breast. Melatonin is one of the body’s natural weapons to fight against the development of cancer. When your body is excessively exposed to the blue light, it can hinder melatonin production and lead to serious health problems.
Insomnia
Remember, the blue light on your TV or smartphone will affect the production of melatonin, which is necessary to get to sleep and stay asleep. When you suffer from insomnia, it can lead to an array of health problems:
· Cardiovascular disease
· Depression
· Memory problems
· Obesity
· Slow response
Vision Issues
Did you know that the blue light can also damage your retina, leading to cataracts and macular degeneration? In fact, doctors are discovering that many young patients are having the same eye problems that older people tend to have thanks to their smartphones. Of course, additional research needs to be conducted to determine this validity.
