If you have children, you already know that they’re going to grow fast. It seems like every other day they’re gaining some more height, and a little more sass to boot. Whenever you’re getting ready for your first workout of the day, it can have a special kind of “ritualistic” vibe to it. For me personally, my son comes up and hugs me from behind almost every single time – he sees me working out and intrigued by it. So much so that he’s even started to do a few push-ups alongside me! It’s incredibly cute, and it brings a smile to my face; it also helps me realize that I’m setting a great example for my child.
It’s not just about working out at that point, it’s about creating a bond with my children that they’re going to remember forever. It seems like when you’re a kid, you forget quite a bit, but there are specific memories and moments that stick with you until the very end. Every single time I work out and my son joins in for a little bit, I can’t but think that’ll be one of the moments he will always remember.
He doesn’t even know how to spell basic words just yet, but he’s out there in the middle of the living room, mimicking my movements. It’s crazy that he can just watch me over a few weeks and then just join in with such ease. It’s become the sort of thing we do almost every single day, and I’ve managed to work him into most of my sets. If I’m doing push-ups, I’ll let him do a few alongside with me – when he’s all finished, I’ll get him to hop on my back for a little added weight.
Yoga is good for your flexibility, but also your children as well. It’s an easy and fun way to get them active, as yoga poses are hard to achieve, but don’t call for a ton of weight to be thrown around. It could also allow them to grow mentally, which could turn out to be a very big positive later on in life. I just feel like working out with your children and keeping them in the mix is a great idea, and it doesn’t take a lot of effort. Try it out for yourself, you’ll see how wonderful it can be.
